Local Artist to Exhibit New England Paintings in Lakeville.
Lakeville, MA – Local artist James Reynolds will be exhibiting several of his New England landscape paintings this summer at the Great Ponds Art Gallery. The public is invited to the Opening Reception, Thursday, July 2 from 6-8 pm.
The exhibit, “Seasons in the New England Landscape,” is part of an ongoing event at the Great Ponds Gallery, which regularly spotlights local talent in the visual arts. “Seasons…” will feature many of Reynolds more recent plein-air oil paintings which focus on Vermont winter scenes and Cape Cod summer-scapes.
Reynolds’ art is impressionistic in approach, using a limited palette and aggressive brush work. He studied art at UMass and directly with New England plein-air artists Jerry Weiss, Jonathon McPhillips, Stapleton Kearns and Ronald Tinney. Reynolds is a member of Oil Painters of America (OPA) and the Cape Cod Art Association.
